In Holy Matrimony

In Holy Matrimony
My dear friend, my comrade.
We want to spend our days together.
The modern world has confused me, especially when a wedding is what I deem a new concept in my indigenous world.
Nevertheless, I was a little girl dreaming of my prince charming, walking hand in hand, wearing a white confection ……………………
I am a woman now - trying to bridge my culture with my modern dreams.
I can have both.
Bless us dearest Creator………….
May the deer watch over and teach me the ability to keep my silent power strong,
May our sacred mountains secure our feet to the Mother earth,
May the trees remind us that there are differences in life, we can be our own person
and yet we become one.
My feathered friends give me the strength to endure the hardships and find joy in the flight of life.
May I own my thoughts and decisions - good or bad
May I respect my friend for life and find the integrity of our relationship…………….
And now - 28 years have passed my dearest husband,
May we have the strength to live on when our time comes to journey back to our home in the afterlife.
Through thick and thin we have weathered the storms,
And now I realize that our big day those many years ago meant our life was set,
